Dublin Tech Summit 2018

With so many new trends emerging in digital all the time such as digital disruption, digital transformation, disruptive innovation and creative destruction, it was great to get the opportunity to discuss some of these with fellow digital enthusiasts at the recent Dublin Tech Summit.

International speakers
Like the launch event in 2017 when Gary Vaynerchuck took to the stage, the 2018 speaker line-up was equally exceptional. This year Jordan Bitterman (IBM), Rajan Krishnan (Oracle), Bruce Daisley (Twitter) and Jason Boland from the Irish music band Kodaline took the reins.

It was enthralling to hear a round up of international views on where the digital industry currently is and what the future holds.

Headline speaker Neistat
It was also fascinating to listen to this year’s headline speaker, the vlogger and disruptor Casey Neistat, who has over 2.2 billion YouTube views and 9.25 million subscribers. On stage, in his session “How to be Heard”, Neistat shared his life story and advice about online storytelling.

He said, “There's no formula in making a viral movie”. Instead, he aims to make good footage and make it available for audiences worldwide to enjoy.

"I have never tried to find success through my career by climbing over the shoulders of others".

A new section: Music X Tech
This year the summit included an additional section on Music X Tech. This section looked at how technology is influencing the music industry.

There were some great examples of the influence of digital disruption on the music industry. You can read more about my panel discussion at the Dublin Tech Summit on digital disruption here.

Bringing digital experts together
The Dublin Tech Summit has quickly become a staple on the digital circuit. Getting the opportunity to discuss and share thoughts on how digital is making such an impact across the world with some of the industry’s experts is something I look forward to doing again.
